Russian translations now
Since the end of February, Europe has been experiencing war in its immediate vicinity and all of us have been directly or indirectly affected. Practically all of our customers have also suspended their activities in Russia for an indefinite period. Exceptions are companies from the pharmaceutical industry.
However, some German-Russian and English-Russian translation projects continue. Not everyone is aware of this, but Russian remains as the language of technical documentation in some countries.

Russian medicine translations
Suddenly we are doing more medical translations in Russian this year than in all previous years. This meant that we urgently had to increase our capacities. The reason is known to everyone: the corona crisis has hit us all: housewives, children, teachers, engineers, factories, factories and, of course, translation agencies. We are now translating brochures, leaflets and news updates for the websites for our European customers who have Russian-speaking staff in their teams. But at the same time there were other customers from the medical and pharmaceutical sectors with completely different orders. Completely independently of this, we receive several orders from pharmaceutical companies that want to start production in Russia. Whether for tests or production, our translators are always ready to translate German-Russian, English-Russian, Russian-German and Russian-English into all of these language combinations. We continue with translations for the manufacturers of medical technology, namely proton therapy.

SDL Trados 2021 in our office
From today Alexxtec uses the latest version of the well-known and popular CAT-Toos SDL Trados 2021. It gives us, the users, some important innovations. We are among the first to try them out.
Most importantly, the Studio desktop application is now not only available for the PC, but also as a cloud-based addition to Trados Studio, which enables seamless switching between PC and smartphone or tablet.
Project managers are happy about that. If necessary, you can switch work to the cloud to manage the projects on any device, e.g. B. on a tablet - either via SDL Trados Live or the new mobile app for SDL Trados Live.

New languages ​​in Alexxtec
We are expanding the list of translated language pairs, primarily due to Eastern European languages: Polish, Czech, Romanian, Hungarian, Turkish, Croatian and others, as well as Western European languages: French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese. In the coming weeks, we will have the same translations into the most popular and widespread Asian languages: Japanese, Chinese, Korean. At first, we decided to limit ourselves only to these, the most demanded languages. According to the plans of our clients, we have expanded the base of translators accordingly. All translators are proven specialists with at least 10 years of technical translation experience. This is one of the main requirements that we place on our employees.

MemoQ as a new CAT tool
From February 2019 we will be using another CAT tool. Alongside SDL Trados 2017, MemoQ will become a standard tool for translators. Although most jobs are still carried out with Trados, we are expanding the number of translators who also use memoQ.
This is important in the event that some customers expressly want to use their favorite tool memoQ.
