Translation quality management

Every customer expects well-translated and checked documents from his translator or translation agency. Nowadays, it is common for all translation services that the translation goes from the translator directly to the client immediately. in our translation agency, every translation is additionally checked by the project manager and often by the boss himself. Thorough proofreading by a specialist editor or a second independent translator, on the other hand, is considered an additional service and is charged for individually. Exception: in any large project where two or more translators work in parallel on different texts, at Alexxtec each translated document is proofread by the editor or by one of the translators on the project at no extra cost

Strict international standards

Our high quality standards are well known to our customers. We are certified according to DIN EN ISO standard 17100:2016-05 (registration number 7U433). This means that the quality of our translations meets the strictest international standards and that you as a customer can trust this.

Project management translations

We have been using a proven professional management tool for years. This means that we never miss a single deadline. From 2021, we will be using another modern programme from SDL. Among other things, it allows each client to check on the status of their order online via web browser.

Assignment - who gets to translate

The boss or the responsible project manager decides who takes on the job in each specific case:

- Employees for everyday subjects such as technology, business, law
- Freelancers (freelance translators for specific fields)

Two aspects are crucial

In the case of regular clients, each client has a "staff" translator, and translation projects of such clients are given priority. Whether the translator is an employee or a freelancer is irrelevant. This ensures terminology consistency and thus the quality of the translation. A good translator already has all the terminology in his head, so to speak, and does not need a dictionary.

The subject matter of the translation is also important. Our translation service is known in Europe for specialising in technical translations. This means that only translators who have the appropriate expertise and experience in this field are considered when placing an order.

Translation

It is always done using CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio 2019/2021, Across, memoQ). We use the client's terminology, if available, or use our own client-specific databases, which we have maintained for years and update after each assignment. Our translators rarely need time to study the subject matter, as we are usually already familiar with all the topics.

Proofreading

All translations are 100% proofread. Our proofreaders are themselves experienced translators and not only deal with proofreading, but also with translations themselves. However, their expertise goes even further. They know exactly what needs to be considered during the proofreading process. Proofreading takes place in two phases:

Phase one: text analysis with Errorspy, a tool that finds errors such as forgotten text or inconsistent terminology.
Phase two: reading the text and comparing it with the original. Correction of stylistic and grammatical errors.
