Formats and softwareWe professionally process all common formats used in technical translations today. Parts of the orders that cannot be handled by the translator are taken over by our DTP department. For example: the translation is done with one of the CAT tools, DTP specialist does the post-formatting. Formats we handle
Technical translations and editorial systemsTranslations of XML files created in various editorial systems or content management systems or CMS are part of our everyday work. We translate them into Russian, French, Polish, Chinese and other languages offered by the translation agency Alexxtec. Content management systems for technical documentation are databases in which individual text elements are stored and managed. Once created, modules can be reused as required. We usually process files from different editing systems for translations into Russian and other languages with SDL Trados. The programme processes such documents without any problems, and an external editor is not necessary. Editing PDF documentsWe receive PDF documents for translation in two ways. The first are documents generated directly from an application, the second type are scanned PDF files. In both cases, our clients receive such documents back in the same format, even in a better quality. This is possible thanks to our methods, which allow us to slightly improve the appearance of the documents. Translation of dwg filesWe still see that some customers deliver AutoCAD drawings to their Russian customers with the translation written by hand. Sometimes the translation is created as a legend and inserted manually under such drawings. This should not be the case nowadays. Modern programmes allow these drawings to be processed perfectly. We deliver such translations as dwg and dxf files as if on an assembly line. Languages we work withOur DTP specialists professionally process documents in all Western European and Eastern European languages such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish or Lithuanian. The processing of Asian languages is not yet carried out and is not planned at the present time. Interesting statistics on formatsThe documents we translate are divided roughly like this: about 45% are files in Word, about 15% are InDesign documents, 10 to 15% are documents in Framemaker. The rest are AutoCAD drawings (dwg and dxf), Microsoft Project files, QuarkXPress and CorelDraw documents, Adobe Illustrator drawings. |
